Experiences Culture and Gastronomy
Mallorca is also a paradise for those seeking authentic experiences through its winemaking. We know this is not a very well-known aspect of the island, but the truth is that in recent years the landscape of this sector has changed significantly.

With a long wine tradition, the island is home to historic wineries and producers who have perfected their techniques over centuries. In this post, we will explore the wines of Mallorca, the historic wineries, and the richness of its wine tourism, ideal for those who want to discover the unique flavors and aromas of the island.

It is worth noting that Mallorca currently has more than 70 wineries dedicated to wine production and boasts two recognized Denominations of Origin (DO): DO Binissalem, founded in 1990, covering the municipalities of Santa Maria del Camí, Consell, Binissalem, Santa Eugènia, and Sencelles; and DO Pla i Llevant, established in 1999, which includes municipalities in the center and east of the island, such as Algaida, Felanitx, Manacor, and Porreres, among others.

In addition to these DOs, Mallorca has protected geographical indications such as "Vino de la Tierra de Mallorca," "Vino de la Tierra Serra de Tramuntana-Costa Nord," and "Vino de la Tierra Illes Balears," recognizing the quality and origin of other wines produced on the island.

These are, for the team at Reverence Hotels, some of the wineries that are especially worth visiting:

Bodega Ribas
Founded in 1711, Bodega Ribas is the oldest winery in Mallorca and one of the most prestigious. Located in the municipality of Consell, this family-run winery offers wine tastings that reflect the island’s character. Their artisanal wines, made from native grape varieties, are a symbol of Mallorcan winemaking history and tradition.

Bodega José L. Ferrer
Located in Binissalem, this winery dates back to 1931 and is famous for its dedication to local grape varieties such as Manto Negro and Callet. With a space dedicated to wine tasting and guided tours, it is an essential stop on the wine route in Mallorca.

Son Prim
Son Prim is a winery in Sencelles that has gained popularity for its artisanal Mallorcan wines. Although relatively young, this winery stands out for its quality wines and meticulous production process. Son Prim offers tastings that include vineyard tours, where the winemaking process of their best wines is explained.

Bodegas Macià Batle
In Santa Maria del Camí, Macià Batle is one of the most iconic wineries, founded in 1856. Their wine offerings include varieties that have gained national and international recognition, and their wine tourism allows visitors to learn about the production process and taste their award-winning wines in an idyllic setting.

Bodega Jaume de Puntiró
Also located in Santa Maria del Camí, this organic winery is known for producing artisanal Mallorcan wines that reflect respect for the environment and the land. Their winemaking process follows traditional principles and is an ideal option for those seeking high-quality and sustainable wines.
