For sports lovers —and at Reverence Hotels we are truly passionate about sport— this is going to be a very special summer. The upcoming season is exceptionally full of incredible events, that kind of events that bring together millions of viewers around the globe behind the screen.
Tournaments such as Roland-Garros —which has already started, with the final scheduled for 13 June—, Wimbledon (28 June - 11 July), Tour de France (26 June - 18 July) or the British Open Golf Championship (15 ´- 18 July) are extremely popular events that people look forward to year after year. Another highlight this summer is going to be the European Football Championship and the Olympic Games, which will take place despite the current situation.
The UEFA European Championship is starting on 11 June in Rome, and will be played in 12 cities in 12 different countries, making it the first multi-site edition ever. The Spanish city of Seville will stage several matches at this summer’s Euro 2021, at which 24 countries will be represented.
The big event of the summer, and not just for sports fans, will be the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics on 23 July. Interestingly, despite being held in 2021, the official name of the Olympic Games is Tokyo 2020, as they were originally planned for the summer of 2020. The Olympics will end on 8 August. The Paralympic Games will be held shortly after, between 24 August and 5 September.
